Use of WAECO freezer with ADVERC alternator regulator

I have a Waeco Freezer - in the instructions it says not to use it with a Quick Charging Device.

For information of those who responded to my initial request for help (and others who may be interested) I contacted Waeco - they say they don't know whether or not my ADVERC regulator is a Quick Charging System (I don't think it is) but say they wouldn't recommend using the freezer with the ADVERC if the voltage goes over 15 volts.

The ADVERC doesn't charge the batteries as high as 15 volts ! - it would probably fry them if it did ? I would have expected Waeco to know of Adverc regulators (the freezer is designed for use on boats - and elsewhere) - but it sounds OK to use the freezer with the Adverc - I have since done so and all seems fine.

Depends on what type of batteries you have.
I have a Sterling Alternator to Battery charger and its highest voltage on Calcium Lead Acid batteries is a brief 15.3v. AGM batteries are charged at around that rate.

Thanks for that - I have "maintainence free" lead acid batteries - one Wilson engine starter and two Wilson domestic - the freezer works off a (fused) cigar lighter directly connected to one of the domestic batteries. When the engine is running, and therefore being charged, I have the main isolator switch on "both" so the voltage is equilised between all three batteries.

I have never seen a higher voltage that 14.8

Still sounds OK ?

Should be, sounds like you have the original rectangular Sterling box (steel case?), which would be a 3 stage unit I think. As these are start loads, why not unplug the freezer for 5 minutes whilst you are cranking to avoid the issue?
