Well, the kettle works for dishwashing!
So does cold water!
Unless, that is, you have been persuaded that 'hands that do dishes can be soft as your face . . .'

Yes, I do know how to wash up in two cups of cold water - been there, done that but haven't got the t-shirt because there isn't one. But it's much pleasanter doing it in warm water. And shaving in cold water is distinctly unpleasant! So does cold water!

Because I wear a goatee style beard, which preserves my youthful appearance!I am fully, er, on board with your approach.
I do think running hot water (whether afloat or on shore) is one of humanity finest achievements.
My current boat is my first ever to have a hot water tank (and indeed the first to have electric pumped water!) so I am still revelling in the unashamed luxury of it. And having spent recent weeks wrestling with pump and calorifier gremlins (and have the bad back to prove it), I shall be making the most of it when I can finally get the boat back in the water.
I am not sure about this shaving lark when afloat. What's the point in having a boat if you can't sport that rugged, lived-in, rufty-tufty unshaven he-man look for the duration of a cruise?![]()
I’m quite surprised by that thought. Although I remember Northern Europe on the 90s having low cutoff points I’ve never had any problems since 2010 in the Mediterranean with a 16A supply giving the full power, so my max of a battery charger and 2 1.5kW fan heaters never blew. The only downside I can see is the 2Kw. This may well be amply provided in UK but in Europe you might struggle to find that much power in ports and marinas. My calorifier, and I suspect many others, came with an 850 watt immersion heater.
My original calorifier had provision to fit an immersion heater but it was so badly corroded that I could not unscrew the flange. I replaced it with a new calorifier including immersion, which proved to be an excellent modification
