A few weeks ago I purchased a pair of new davits to hang my new dinghy on, two weeks ago spent an entire bank holiday weekend fitting the davits (with the reluctant help of my wife)! Last weekend sold the boat, this morning receives VISA bill for the davits in which I no longer own. Wife's not a happy teddy! Tried to cheer her up by telling her that we're doing a 600 mile trip on Saturday to look at another boat (for some reason this didn't help)!

I can't help not been able to predict the future, does anyone else suffer from this problem?

personally i am with the wife on this one
disgraceful behaviour
it is beasts like you that give the rest of us a bad name

you should have given her the satisfaction of fitting and paying for them herself.

Why?

Why did you fit the davits just b4 selling the boat, did this make all the difference to the sale? Or were you not expecting a sale so soon.

Just tell her the only reason Fred Bloggs bought the thing was cos of the nice new shiny bits on the arse end so what a good investment they were and now you've got more than you expected for the sale. That should work!! ;-))

Re: Why?

This sounds the equivalent of a vascetomy to a Buddhist Monk - non urgent surgery and wholly avoidable grief and pain.

Re: Why?

I arranged to take delivery of boat on SWMBO's birthday, Drinking Bubbly on board at the end of a perfect day!

Well it was for me, until I remebered that I had forgotten to buy card, flowers, pres etc... Still trying to live that one down.

But she did get a new lifevest, warm fleece, fairline jacket (OK we weer given the jackets by the salesman) and other bits and bobs to do with the boat... I mean come on

Re: Why?

I bought SWMBO an electric winch for Xmas once, to help her get the anchor up while i sat cosily in the wheelhouse, but sold the boat before she had the chance to use it!
Also bought present boat while she was away on holiday and hadn't even seen it...... Luckily she likes it!
