A few years ago everyone got excited about the innovative new ultrasonic way of antifouling. However, the whole things has gone very quiet. I am curious to know whether anyone is still using ultrasonic system antifouling system and their experience with it.

Obviously not all its cracked up to be. I bought a system a few years ago and it did nothing for my bottom haha but I am in a heavily fouling area. managed to sell it off on ebay and got a couple of hundred quid for it.

We have it. We also converted to coppercoat two seasons after installing in. We still have it switched on.

Now if it worked, would we still get theses nasties on the bottom of the keel where it wasn't, copper coated?

a few years ago I felt like Cassandra, I published all the research I could find on here - all of which suggested that unless you were considering a multi KW installation (that would probably damage the hull) it was a non starter. Part of my findings suggested that at the power proposed the system would encourage the growth of micro organisms - it certainly is a funny old world.

Would it work better if you programmed it to play Cliff Richards at 150KHz (or whatever frequency it uses)? Apparently it works on teenagers at normal frequencies.

We have one.

It works, but in conjunction with antifoul. It appears to make its efficient period longer.

By the way Snooks-our Coppercoat-on our previous boat-went green all over very quickly, and worked very well.

Your keel appears to be copper coloured.

If that is the case, the copper granules may be covered with epoxy.

It wont work like that.
