UK Boat Price Crash......

I always ask her ‘me or the dog?’.....

Lock 'her' and the dog in the garage and go out on the randan for the whole night. In the morning, when the garage is opened, who is pleased to see you ...

My wife always says "your boat" and I correct her and say "our boat". Then she says "How many 64ths do I have?" The answer of course is none as I did the paperwork.

Well having just got divorced I found out that if you bought it since you got married and didn't do some careful planning when you bought it the actual correct answer is 32 regardless of what it says on the paperwork.

90% of the people on this forum couldn’t operate their boat without their spouse

The first job for my new boat in two years is to set it up for single handing and force myself to do a load of single handed trips. Then I can invite the GF or not! Or kids. Or whoever. But not be limited to waiting for crew!

Latvian law is a carry over from Soviet ...

Any item that was bought before marriage signature in the Reg'n book - remains 100% property of the individual. It can literally come down to the time of that day !!
After that signature - if the person creates a Legally Sworn Document awarding item to XXX person - then the 'spouse' can only change it by contesting in Law Court and having sufficient reason to do so. Works Male to Female or Female to Male ... no difference.

Yes its that good !! Having gone through UK divorce that Wife and I had amicably agreed everything on even split .............. once lawyers got involved all went to rat-sh** ..................... 10 years later I was still paying it off ...

Well luckily for me I offered my ex wife a generous deal and her lawyer advised she wasn't going to do any better. We both feel hard done by but at least we didn't waste tens of thousands of pounds on the divorce!

You are lucky ... we both agreed that as she could have Legal Aid in those days ... we only needed the one lawyer. So we sat down put a value on items ... then referenced against the house value. As we agreed what each would keep - we adjusted the 50-50 house split. We sold the caravan .. so that was added into the 'pot' .... I kept the boat ... she kept one car - I kept the other etc.
Final on the house was 51% her .. 49% mine. But I offered 53 - 47 in her favour to be sure all went through easily .... we wrote it all out ... we both signed ... even my setting aside generous allowance to pay the mortgage and all the kids needs until she either worked or remarried. I agreed to fund her training as a Driving Instructor with BSM.
She got her solicitor ... a young woman .... and all looked fine .............

Solicitor presented all to Court ... Court asked if this was all agreed ... whereupon her Solicitor informed the Court that as I worked abroad, with limited time in UK - there was no guarantee I would honour the agreement !!

Court refused the agreement - informing me that I should appoint Solicitor and represent ...

Solicitor was appointed and first thing he did was call a meeting of us all incl. her Solicitor. At that meeting even my 'Wife' told her she was an idiot and creating a mess when all had been sorted and agreed.

The final result was that I had to accept all loan's and credits outstanding ... amended agreement accepted by court .... plus a fee from my Solicitor that really was caused by her arsy Solicitor ....
It took near 20yrs to free myself of it ... but I still carry one of the credits - paying off slowly.
