Hello all,

Has anyone had any experience with the replacing of chainplates in a Trintella 44? My understanding is they are encapsulated in the layup, but am not sure exactly how they are constructed or what would be involved in their removal. There's a fair amount of cabinetry / joinery to get access. Any former Anne Wever shipwrights out there?

The chainplates are easily inspected by removal of the teak plugs on the boxing in. Just undo the screws to expose the chainplates. I checked mine a few years ago and they were perfect. They were made from very high quality stainless steel. 10mm thick and secured with 9 No M12 bolts from memory.

Thanks geem,

I'm headed to Turkey in the coming weeks to inspect a 44 we have an offer on. It's a 1978 model that I'm told was layed up at Tylers. Hopefully the construction is the same as yours as I had been informed they were likely encapsulated. That'd be a relief if they're not! Any recommendations on weak points in the design/build to look out for as we move to survey?

Much obliged
