True story; Jason and the Argonauts was filmed on the west coast of Scotland. The entry to the Black Sea with the clashing rocks? That's the Corryvreckan with a special filter to make it look like Harryhausen's backyard. There are a few pubs still staffed by the extras who played the fighting skeletons.

Counted 12 boats in Puilladobhrain this summer when we arrived late one evening. Looked like one or two were settled for the summer!

But it's not free really is it. Those new fangled anchors, and the lengths of chain required for the deep lochs, don't come cheap

Loch Aline deep; I've read it all now!

At least 46m at one of the recommended anchoring spots ? and the middle of the loch is deep enough to give most southerners vertigo.

First Mate and I spent six weeks in the Clyde end of June to August some years ago. One day, mid July, it reached the dizzy hights of 7 degrees C!
Midges ARE troublesome it is true. But not at those tempretures I am glad to say.
