And I thought it was horse racing and Covid-19.
Beware the wash from the Calmac kept a friend at our yacht club awake all night.
Also the locals who will swim out to your boat and nick your fenders. They'll be on sale in Tobermory by morning.
Yes, Rule XXX in IRPCS clearly states that everything gives way to a CalMac ferry. Even Trident subs are scared of them.My late father told me that the Almighty made Heaven and Earth and gave it to Adam and Eve, apart from the Western Isles, which He gave to Donald MacBrayne.
I take it this is still correct?
Even Trident subs are scared of them.
They have every reason to be! The ferries obviously don't have depth sounders...
Calmac ferries are generally paragons of patience and politeness with WAFIs.Yes, Rule XXX in IRPCS clearly states that everything gives way to a CalMac ferry. Even Trident subs are scared of them.
And the difference is that the Largs ferry has to go close to shore, and indeed make firm contact with shore, every 30 minutes.Neither did HMs Astute when she ran aground of Skye.

I have to agree, but don’t let current facts ruin a good quip.Calmac ferries are generally paragons of patience and politeness with WAFIs.
…
Except for the jumped up motor boats on the Gourock/Dunoon run who, apart from kicking up a riduculous wash, try to bully all small vessels out of their way.Calmac ferries are generally paragons of patience and politeness with WAFIs.
They have clearly noted your AIS boatname and singled you out for special treatment for some previous misdemeanour- as not noticed this myselfExcept for the jumped up motor boats on the Gourock/Dunoon run who, apart from kicking up a riduculous wash, try to bully all small vessels out of their way.
I must try going into stealth mode to see if it makes a difference. Unfortunately, it is not just me - about 20m away from becalmed Pipers seems a tad unnecessary. They have clearly noted your AIS boatname and singled you out for special treatment for some previous misdemeanour- as not noticed this myself

Is awol's boat a small vessel while dunedin has a big one? They have clearly noted your AIS boatname and singled you out for special treatment for some previous misdemeanour- as not noticed this myself
Ref Post 54, the WightLink ferry skippers obviously train in the same school as CalMac.... particularly down Lymington way where the come on regardless. Ok vessel constrained by draft etc, but they wont give an inch. Red Funnel arent much better having sunk the odd cruiser because no one was looking the right way.Calmac ferries are generally paragons of patience and politeness with WAFIs.
Clearly anybody complaining about Calmac has never been in a narrow rocky channel with a Baltic ferry coming the other way ….. or been to Greece etc.
Glass ?
Glass sand production, and it’s Cheltenham in Australia that you’re referring to ?Well done, near, for the bonus point you need to be a bit more specific.

Even the winter timetable only gives a 5 hour respite from wash for the Gourock/Dunoon ferry and if you leave fenders dangling on your boat whilst on a mooring it is an offence against all that is holy and you deserve to lose them.Which Calmac ferry runs all night?
Also that's a bit harsh on the locals wherever your yacht club is. Maybe should learn to tie your fenders on correctly ?

MV Loch Seaforth runs 24/7 apart from loading etc, on the summer timetable.Which Calmac ferry runs all night?
