It was reckoned to have 8000 Lt in total of diesel on board, at least when the lines burnt through it was blown against the harbour wall and not through the marina.

That is someones pride and joy, very sad sight.

Once it was ablaze we couldn't get down to the harbour to see it as roads closed. The smoke though was unbelievable, it stretched across the sky all the way over to Paignton and towards Brixham although I think it will miss it.

The biggest problem will be pollution now it has sunk.

I noted early on whilst the fire was isolated to the foredeck and amidships that the tender was intact at the stern. I’m mildly surprised it wasn’t salvaged as probably quite pricey in itself. I guess the risk was too high.

Would you wanted to have gone aboard a blazing boat to try and rescue the tender (even if you could get it off, doubt you'd have had any electrical power to lower the platform or operate the crane).

Was that it’s berth or was it visiting . I am surprised to see a boat that size in torquay.

Too big ( max 50 ft mobo ) for craftinsure.
Hope it’s got in date fire suppression systems .Or better still a recent survey especially if requested by its underwriter.


Seen a few sunken wrecks in the Med just left ,wrangles over who’s footing the clean up bill i suspect.
