Everyone OK?
Sounds nasty, lot of people injured inland and many buildings destroyed

I know the area a little, and from what I can deduce from this report, the main damage was just North of Albufeira.

Happens most winters. Last time it was Faro Airport that took the big hit & back in 08 Lagos boatyard was trashed. Price of being way out in the Atlantic at 8W.
Now back to normal with blue skies, light airs & balmy (barmy?) temperatures.
As after every big storm the River Bensifrim has turned to chocolate.
Immediate forecast looks OK so Sandyman, where are you now?
The part of the Algarve to the west of Albufeira is known as "sotavento" meaning windward.
Hi Chinita,
You will just have to go to the bar and watch the Aussies get stuffed in the Rugby!!!
Here in Ragusa we have a good few Aussies so it should be an entertaining afternoon, no doubt Eddie will have painted an old T-shirt yellow if he is there???
Best Wishes from Nimrod
Back alongside in Baiona I'm afraid. Just completed 6 days work on the engine, ready to depart, got fuel and though I would just do one final check on water & oil only to find oil in the bilge...............................sod it ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
So frustrating. Now I've got to find the leak & sort it.
Was looking fwd to today's sail. Bit of a swell forecast at 3M no problem.
N wind would have done us fine.
Heavy rain showers & overcast here. 16 C. 1004 mB.
The best laid plans etc etc or as we used to say ''life in a blue suit''![]()
Hope it isn't to difficult to fix.
Thank you.
Looks like it wasn't a leak after all. Could see no oil dripping into the bilge but then
you cant see much under my donk. Left only one thing for it and that was to clean
all the bilge oil & water out and give the bilge a good dhoby. Once clean any dipping oil would show up. Did all this, not a nice job, and no sign of an oil leak. Phew. Fingers xxxx lol.
Still, things like this happening does leave doubt in your mind especially when your about to
set off on a 350Nm passage at this time of year in these waters.
Looking like we stay put until at least Monday. Tomorrow's not looking to good Wx wise. A NW 5M swell predicted with with 8/9 sec period and N wind gusting F7/8.
Wife not impressed![]()
