Hi all,

I painted "Rebecca" with Toplac last year. What is the best way to polish/protect it for the coming season?

Many thanks,

Jason.

Never had much luck plishing our green Toplac. No matter what we do the paint always seems to "rub off" if that makes sense. The fenders turn green where they've been moving against the hull etc.. This year we are having it all taken off and the boat painted with two-pack, sprayed on. That has worked very well where we've used it with a brush, so hoping to improve the looks of the hull with it being sprayed on.

I would agree with you on that one. I brush painted an Elizabethan 31 using toplac (it was also green) This was against my advice to the owner. It looked fine at first but after a season all the fender marks and other scrapes were very evident also.
I would always advise two part polyurethene sprayed if possible. But it is a massive task to get rid of all the traces of the toplac.
For the original poster the only way to put a shine on scuffed toplac (other than removing it completely) is to sand it down and add another coat.

I put some "mer" polish on one year, I'm not really sure it made any difference. I Toplac'd my boat about 6 years ago and this year the accumulated scuff marks and staining made me re-paint her. I never had problems with it rubbing off (she is white) but then she is on a swinging mooring.
