Hurricane I'll be interested to hear your conclusions on Planus. I don't know whether anyone is exhibiting them at SIBS. I'd suggest that while at the show you shouldn't burn up much time with Leesan - they are excellent folks and a nice firm to deal with but they just don't do Tecma so you will waste a lot of time hearing from them how good their alternatives are, when none of them is as good as Tecma/Planus. In my view the retailers of these products know little compared with folks like us who have lived with them and maintained them for 10++ years on a variety of boats on cruises of several weeks, so I wouldn't be looking for much advice from UK-based retailers tbh. Happy shopping!
Great choice, including the write off of those mods. :encouragement:So I've ordered a complete upgrade to Planus for JW but without those mods.
Just got back from SIBS
Princess are now shipping Planus toilets as standard.
So, I was able to see what they look like on a new boat.
I also spoke to a PMYS engineer that I've known for a long time who agreed that upgrading from VAC would be a very good idea.
And this was "kind of" the final thing that decided it for me.
However, Princess have their Planus toilets slightly modified from the standard.
They use the slim controller using a remote electronics box - (see this link http://www.planus.biz/prodotti/gamma-pulsanti/gamma-pulsanti/slim.htm )
And Planus fit the toilet electronic control box inside the void above the mascerator for them.
They have the water solenoid valve also fitted inside the same void.
So I've ordered a complete upgrade to Planus for JW but without those mods.
I've still ordered the slim controller but I intend fitting the electronic control onto a bulkhead underneath the floor, where I can get at it easily.
Also, I want to fit the solenoid valve in a similar position and then run a flexible water pipe up to the toilet.
That way, I think it might be easier to remove/maintain the toilet later.
Hoping to fit them sometime in November.
What's the cost of the Planus? I paid about £600 for the Tecma which I thought was a bargain, I think they're normally about a k?
If it helps at all I had the 2x manual WCs in my new boat swapped for Tecmas for about £920 each, supply and fit including VAT. It was done by Keto of Swanwick.
Included all the plumbing work, running new elec supplies, and the works needed to provide a changeover for salt/fresh flush.
