As said. Tecma. I had a vacuflush and not only did it cost me 2 k in maintenance the last two years but the brand new bellows pump split its bellows and pumped 2 weeks of effluent into the bilge, and here everytime a faint whiff came into the cockpit I thought I needed a new carbon filter on the breather and I only put two and two together when the pump out yielded nothing.

I tell you, nothing can make you fall out of love with your boat quicker than that.

The only thing I will say about tecma is its not great with standard tp. Its quite frugal with water and can cause the tp to not make it all the way to the holding tank and back up. Simple solution is to use more water in the flush or dispose of tp in the sanititary bin.

Don't FA - just replace it wit a Tecma or Planus - you won't regret it.
I changed all my Vac toilets with Planus and life is MUCH better.
As to the cost, after you have paid someone to fix your problem the replacement will seem better value.

Just be careful if you choose to convert to tecma. I bought one and dug into my toilet base only to find a huge stringer where the tecma internals are suppose to go.
Money back (Thank you Aquatec) end of project.
That's only the case with the previous model Tecma, and then only the low height model. In the current range, both the full height and low height models have no internals hanging down.

I can vouch for Dometic tp - but it would appear that they've stopped it. This might be an alternative.https://www.leisureshopdirect.com/water/caravan-plumbing/toilet-chemicals/4-thetford-aqua-soft-toilet-rolls

Never had that problem in 14 years of Tecma. I always set the water usage potentiometer to maximum water.
Bruce, there is no tp downstream of a Tecma, in the pipe to the tank. One it leaves the Tecma unit, everything is heavily macerated into a blended consistent fluid/slurry and the tp doesn't exist as tp any more.

Thanks
That’s interesting. I found that the Sealine design although looking quite pleasant offered constraints to the height of toilet. You will notice that I have the Jabsco noisy flush conversion fitted.

Where's it leaking from? View attachment 165319
I’m hoping it’s around the rubber seal (18)...at least in that general area. It’s a bit low to the ground in a tight heads to get a real good look...especially as I would need to be laying down while flushing....when I locate a rebuild kit, I will disassemble it and the true horror will be evident

I have no doubt that you are right....but if I can fix this for a few quid then I’ve save €900

Hopefully a simple O ring change... you might also get away with a temp fix with some decent silicone.

I found a rebuild kit in a local chandler....but all the research in the world doesn’t give you enough details as to whether it’s for the motor and toilet....or just the toilet. Anyhow at least I can make a start. Only problem is we are living on the boat for the next three days...so I am not sure if I will wait until we return or just do it and hope for the best

Is Mrs Bouba au fait with the bucket and chuck it technique? If not I suggest you live with it and keep cleaning up the leaks until you are at home with adequate facilities and not reliant on the ships bog.
Over the years I have had several Jabsco toilets all manual, I did consider converting one once but was fortunate enough to meet someone that had and see the result, so I didn't. They really are quite poor and ridiculously expensive for what they are, in your position I would take the advice of your fellow Moboers and install a Tecma that have at least the reputation of working and being well engineered. What's a €1000 to a flush Tesla owner, use some of that money you have saved on not having to service and repair your knackered Volvo. ;)

Owning a low mileage Tesla means that I have saved at least €1000....but spending all of it on the toilet just makes it all seem so pointless 🤷‍♂️🤔

You will get a lot more pleasure out of using a Tecma toilet than holding on to €1000 it might even make driving a Tesla seem worthwhile.

We have just spent six months living with a simple Jabsco manual loo on our boat without any problems and having considered changing to some kind of electric decided there wasn't really much point.
