On Look East on the lunchtime news on BBC1 there was an item about the end of tax-free diesel and a nice interview with a mate of ours at the marina. I expect it'll be on again this evening after 6.30 ish. Nothing we don't know, but what I saw of it looked sensible.

Only heard a bit of the interview and thought the RYA chap said you could still have the lower tax on fuel for heating (no heater on boat) and charging batteries - which I hadn't picked up on before.

Being a sailing purist /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif I only ever run my engine to charge the batteries - even when the sails aren't up /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Surely Mobos might have diesel heaters, in which case they can declare a proportion of their use as for heating, clearly not as high as 60-40 though?

I filled up on Friday (as did lots of us) on my way out for a couple of days sailing and the guy said they were going to apply a standard 60:40 unless told otherwise.
