We want to rename the boat we bought last year.
It is now named Tara, but we don't know anyone named like that.

We want to name the boat Time-out, but we (Dutch) are not sure of the correct spelling. The choices we see are:

Time-out
time-out
Time out
time out

Which would be the correct one?
We think, this name reflects the idea that when we are on the boat we are doing something differently and away from the day to day stress. Is that correct?

Any suggestiions highly appreciated! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have a friend whose grandfather called his first boat, many many years ago “Time Out” his father and now he calls all their boats “Time Out” it has become a family tradition and as you stated it’s because it’s their time out from the pressures of the world.
I was surprised to find a Time Out opposite me in the marina, my friend lives in the USA?
Good luck with the naming, if it’s any help his is spelt..... Time Out.

Make sure you tell who ever cuts them for you, that it's for a boat. The guy who did mine explained that there are different types of vinyl, and being outside all the time, there was a special UV resistant type that would last much longer. He actually already had some in stock, otherwise he'd have had to order some in.

It may not bother you, but did you know there are 60+ boats called Time Out, 10 of which are registered in Holland.

Its a nice sensible name - but there are alot of them!

Good Luck

From the International Telecommunications Union site (ITU). I can't do the link but one of the other posters might do it for you. It is a register of Radio Licences issued to boats, amongst other things.
