Latest excerpt from Nigerian spam email...

"I am Mr samuel savimbi of Angola whose father was killed on the 22nd of February 2002. I got your contact through 'The world business journal' when I was desperately looking for a thrust worthy person to assist me in this confidential business. My late father, Jonas sabimbi deposited large amounts of money in different banks in Europe..."

Seems I am thrust worthy. Well I guess it's Valentines Day...

<font color=blue>Always amazes me that people still fall for this sort of thing. Which reminds me, I must reply to some of mine.

It's amazing what greed does, and people DO answer them, that's why they are still at it. DO NOT reply to any of these becuase you WILL be defrauded. Once these people have your details e.g. a reply with details of your address, bank account (for THEM to their money in), your signature and other details, you will suddenly find the tables turned and find THEY have cleared YOUR bank out. Sorry to go on and on, but it is still happening in the UK EVERY other day, believe it or not.

Take care, be safe and alert like Byron /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

<font color=blue>I do know someone that turned the tables on them and earned a quick $50,000. This must have been about 5/6 years ago now.

Byron, I don't want to fall out with you, but I do believe that whoever you were talking to is NOT telling you the TRUTH. I can assure you that he DID NOT make $50,000 and he is talking absolute and utter total nonsense. Whatever you want to think of me, on this one TRUST me, I have operated on a number of occassions in Nigeria and they DO NOT part with money. If any of you think better, and have a go, well DO NOT come crying to me, because YOU WILL get yourselves involved in something you wished you never had, WHEN you have had to go and pick up the pieces of another GREEDY FOOL's mistake like I have, on more than one occassion, then I will listen to you. I nearly lost my life on one occassion, in one of the biggest and baddest townships in Nigeria, and that is why it is so personal to me, so DO NOT wind me up on this one, it is not a funny matter. DO NOT get involved at ANY TIME, I for one will NOT be going to get you, or sort it out. Life is very cheap there you have all been warned.

Sorry to have a go Byron, but you have just passed on information you believed was correct, nothing personal.

P.S. I am willing to speak to your friend at any time, and at any place, to discuss the matter.

Saw a news article recently about the number of US peeps who turn up in top London hotel lobbies to meet some of these fraudsters. Any idea what the figure is?

<font color=blue>Believe me, he got $50,000 and that was just his 'end' others involved had a 'drink' out of it too. What you have to understand is there's some very clever scamsters in the UK too, quite capable of reversing the tables. The chap involved never left our shores and the deal was conducted via Kuwait with the Nigerian paying monies to a Lebanese contact over there. The monies the came back via Athens to here.
