Those of you with new(ish) Beta Engines......

What does the warranty provide above and beyond the guarantee as a matter of interest?

The warranty states that the servicing can be carried out by anyone, as long as genuine Beta parts are used. So no need to get the engine serviced by expensive service centres.
Quite a liberal warranty, in my mind, compared to many other engine suppliers.

As Cardo notes, you can do the servicing yourself - which is easy - and maintain the warranty, but you do have to use their parts.

And yes, Beta / Kubota don't make their own filters etc, but I would hope they ensure the parts which are badged as theirs are of appropriate quality.

that's one of the reasons i chose beta - think lifetime costs rather than initial purchase only

I will also change the fuel filter annually BTW

Not sure if this invalidates the Beta warranty though..... for sure we will go this route when out of warranty but having been stung by Land Rover for something similar we are wary of fitting non original parts while in warranty. Not sure if Beta would class using Kubota parts as a reason to void the warranty, however silly it may sound.

Why not ask them and avoid all this speculation ?

I get mine from boatpartsandspares as a couple of others have mentioned. What I've found so far is that the anodes need replacing every 6 months and the heat exchanger is worth taking out for a good clean every year. Everything else is as you'd expect from a any brand of newish boat diesel.

I have bought spares from Beta for a now 20 year old engine over more than 10 years. I expect that it has cost me more than buying elsewhere, but I have also benefitted from Beta's excellent support - for a long superseded engine - on two or three occasions. No doubt I would have had the support without buying parts from them, but I'm happy with the balance.

My engine is a Yanmar, and I bought the Yanmar complete spares pack at purchase.
I have spent the last 9 years seeking out the original manufacturers of all the ancillaries, oil seals, gaskets, electrical components, filters etc.
It's a bit like taking up Genealogy.....
