Good morning all. Just noticed this thread so I thought I would pop on and say hello to those here. We are in Gozo Malta and launched Popski (Antares 30fly) a couple of week ago now but the high winds here have been so bad that it’s impossible to take her out. I am interested in knowing how other marinas orotund the med are dealing with Covid and if it’s now business as usual. Malta has not really shut down and the Mgarr Marina has been accessible without difficulties and right now the government has announced that the pandemic is behind us and the only second wave will be at sea. I have my own view on this message but perhaps not the right forum for that. Anyhow I hope everyone will at some point enjoy the 2020 boating season and good luck
Hi, like you France has opened up for boating ?
Unfortunately, just like you the wind is too strong ☹️
But I’m hoping for a great season of beautiful weather and cheap fuel ????

The french quarantine is not enforced and no forms to complete and no fines so basically they are saying come to France and no one will be in quarantine, its more a UK did it so we will follow suit, the UK is another story, I think they did it to keep money in the UK and stop people going on holiday, that's the only reason you bring in when they did as we are about to go into full holiday mode!

My eldest son John-Paul lives on Gozo, are the airports still in lockdown on Malta?

Nice place to keep a boat, we chartered one a year or so ago and circumnavigated Gozo, then over to the blue lagoon before the mad rush all in a day.

Can't wait to get out to the boat in Spain in July - fingers still crossed....!

Until 30 June then 19 routs open to selected areas then 15 July all open but they won’t say as yet if uk is included. This government keeps changing and is going through a massive crisis of corruption and coverup due to the assassination of the reporter who was blown up in her car. There seems to be many of the current MP‘s falling like cards. It’s a real problem here right now.

Passed through the Chunnel lunchtime ....you have to give then a completed pro forma obtained from the euro tunnel website.
Its a self declaration that you are symptom free ( there’s a list ) and the address you are intending to stay re the quarantine....you sign it .
How ever at Folkestone they asked us where we were going ....” Switzerland “ I said and then they did not want the self declaration as we were passing through.
In the office there was a stack ready to be uploaded......so be warned !

As the Swiss border I showed them another pr forma ( Mrs Porto filled them all in behind btw ) this one was from the UK Swiss embassy site declaring our home in CH and we were needed to oversee essential “ agricultural “ works like hay mowing , tree pruning etc .
They ( the copper + soldier) looked at it saw the address and waved us through.
Still got the forms .....I don,t think from the 15 th we needed the Swiss one .
Arrived 10 pm after leaving Yorkshire 6,30 am .

Heard the swiss have opened the Italian border for us the St Bernard pass .
Will chill here a week or so , lotsa friends to catch up etc , better do some “ agriculture “ :) ...then head off to IT to the boat .

We took copies of deeds , notary docs + utility bills of our Swiss and French property just in case we had to prove something to some one .Not needed.
I choose the 16 th over the 15 th incase the pigeon post from Paris / London / Bern did not arrive at the borders for the first day .

Got no definitive return date .One year only had 6 weeks in total in the UK .Plenty to occupy here ........oh I forgot a boat !
Will watch to see the numbers early July ....results of UK mass gatherings and easing of lockdown and results of a gentle and gentile start to mainland Europe’s opening up of borders .

Spain was open and now they are thinking of quarantine again as the UK has not relaxed theirs.

Easyjet have cancelled my flights ( and all until the 12 July). Ryanair claim to be flying!
I’ve not seen anything indicating Spain is to re introduce quarantine for U.K. residents. Where does your information come from?

try and make a dummy booking. The flights all say SOLD OUT.

Some random flights appear and then vanish. One has just come back for the 4th July from London, but it was not there an hour ago and will probably do again. Yesterday the sam for the 1st and the 6th .

If you look at yours I am afraid it says SOLD OUT

They say the below - and no they have no connected me either and the flight shows as fine. I have already moved it several times due to other sold out flights ( where the seat map shows it is empty)

I have rebooked on RyanAir

Flights listed as Sold Out
We list a flight as ‘Sold Out’ when it is full, or when no more seats are on sale because we are uncertain if it will operate. An increased number of flights are currently showing as Sold Out because, in light of Covid-19 and evolving travel restrictions, we do not have certainty that some flights will operate. If you have an existing booking on a flight which now shows as ‘Sold Out’, we will be in touch at least 21 days before your departure date to confirm your travel details.

hmm - it let me just add hold luggage and do an on line checkin for it and select seats - which I guess doesnt guarantee anything, but still....

Might have to get in the car and drive.

My bookings are the same- but when I called they were clear that is was no cancelled - just not likely to run! Go figure! They then added the note above that sold out means you are probable buggered.

I think Easyjet have done well so far. They gave me refunds, let me book any flight anywhere ( I didn't take them up on their offer) but they are now getting a bit silly with the changes.

I am not a conspiracy theorist etc but things at the moment do honestly make me wonder.

Foreign office advice not to travel. Quarantine for us returning - but our rates are hi, the lockdown in practical terms now seems over.

By almost all measures we are at less risk in almost any EU country except Sweden and yet they want us here. It really is very controlling and comes across as a govt desperate to control the people. Rather like china.

I can fully understand why other may not want us - but that does not seem the current issue

I found the opposite with Easyjet.
It wasn't much money but they refused to refund and I had no way of contacting them at the time.
The phone system was ridiculous so I simply got a refund from my credit card.
I use Amex and they are brilliant at this kind of thing.

same here - got fed up of ryanair messing me around with refunds so just claimed it back from amex, all done online and the money was back in my account the next day

Just been looking at driving - door to door its ~1300 miles manchester to palma, so realisticly no less than 2 days of travelling, it will be a pain in the backside, but probably worth while. Will give it a couple more weeks and see how things start to pan out before deciding
