Go to User Options

In Main Configuration select Personal Information & click Edit

Scroll down to Your Picture (Entire URL - Picture size is 65x75 pixels)

Enter the URL of the pic you want to use
(eg mine is http://www.bluemoment.com/ybwsig2.gif )

[Obviously to do this you have to have uploaded a suitable pic to a known URL]

Hope that is succinct enough, Geoff

Dear Mr Tome

I wondered whether I could do that. However, your picture does not appear on my computer!

I have noticed that some users pictures don't appear. I reckon Ms Webcraft is correct - you've got to upload yor picture to a URL.

Now...Ishould know what that means and how to do it...give me a moment...no, I don't know.

Regards

Geoff

Re: Dear Ms Webcraft

A suitable picture is one that doesn't outrage public decency, or at least that Kim won't ban . . . and of course it needs to be a .gif, .jpg or .png

It's also best if it is already the specified size, as otherwise it is likely to look out of proportion when it is resized by the forum software.

A URL is just a web address. So - for instance - if you have a Freeserve account and you upload your pic to your free webspace then you might upload it to http://www.myaccount.freeserve.co.uk/ybwsig.gif

Of course, you have to know how to upload an image, but there are people on these boards offering free space for images.

You can find out the URL of an existing image anywhere on the web by right-clicking with your mouse and selecting 'properties'

Getting less succinct by the minute here . . .

As a jay bird it would appear.

Like me you need to learn about URL's, uploading etc - we're both in the same boat.

Re: Cheers Em

Geoff,

Do you have a picture you would like to use, and if so where is it at this present moment in time?

Geoff,

If you want to PM me with your e-mail address I'll reply and you can send me the pic as an attachment. I'll make it the regulation size and upload it, then send you the URL.

Ayone on the forums is welcome to use the boaters gallery on my website - a lot of the MoBoChat guys have their pics there as well as other boat photos........you can upload the pics from your machine direct to the website - instructions are there as well.
