This time next week I shall be off the coast of Singapore. The Aleutian is ready, so a week of sea trials and the first part of the handover, and a blessed 9 day silence from me in the forum.
She clocked 22.5kts last week.

They are 800 CATS. Don't know the load state yet but because of a small construction change they have saved about 1000kg in build weight when compared with hull no. 1 which reached 21.9 in the MBY review. I think 7.5 kts more my style, I'll get 2,500 range then!

All sounds very impressive, have always admired Grand Banks, everything about them seems solid and seaman like. If you're planning on cruising at 7.5 knots why have you gone for large engines, wouldn't smaller ones give you a better range, or are you a speed merchant in disguise, lull them all into false sense of security and then open up and leave em all in your wake!! ;-))

I seriously thought about smaller engines but this boat was designed for the 800's and it seemed a pity to think about economy when the boat is so stable all the way up to full power. Driving her feels like being on a railway line, especially when turning. This way I get the choice of range and speed and I know that I can have some fun with the tupperware speed freaks when I am pottering along pretending that I am just an old trawler yacht. The only drawback is that this hull produces no rooster tail, she just sticks her stern down and goes, a more subtle form of two fingers?
