This new format is lousy! I thought ipc didn't have money to burn?

The old format was perfectly fine. How much was some techno-bore paid, to make these changes?

Evidently the money went to some nerdy kid whose age only recently reached double figures, since EVERYTHING - from the typeface to the little expressive faces, are much harder to see, in this format.

Why wasn't that money put towards keeping the magazine cover prices where they are, for another few weeks?

The money could have gone into a boat-owners' interest group, like "Anchors, Not Seahorses", or even to the RNLI.

I say, put it back how it was yesterday; this was a mistake which clearly, we weren't asked about. Am I alone?

Thank you, Slipperman, et al.

Why the HELL is the new format so FADED? My vision is virtually 20:20, but I already have a neck-ache, from peering forward to read words which formerly I could read while sitting back!

It's tempting to write ALL replies in bold, just for the convenience of other readers.

In fact, that's my plan. Why in hell has IPC decided to mess around, employing a set-up that is so conspicuously inferior to the one which has worked perfectly well for the previous decade?

I do SO hope that the boss of the office that runs the fora, is reading these replies...

...Sir, this was a needless change. I doubt the advertisers will be glad of the readers' disappointment. Do us a favour and change it back!

Well, I for one like it.

I can read it just fine thank you - no need to write in bold thank you. Perhaps you should investigate a sight checkup.

It's not just a skin - it's a new version of vBulletin. It works much better for me - and is capacble of taking advantage of modern browsers. I'm enjoying the new features as well as the new layout. :p

+1

Have to admit--- old one was better
However, perhaps the webmaster would like to explain the reasoning
I suppose it is a bit like when the BBC changed the format for the weather report
Everyone complained but now we all accept it
Would not have minded if there had been an improvement in forecasting

Have you considered that the IPC were forced to change? As technology moves on companies update their software and stop supporting the old stuff. If you continue to use the old stuff there is no support when things go bang, not a risk I would be happy to bear, would you?

Wots happened to the very useful 'jump to last message' feature? Really useful, now we have to scroll through miles of read posts before getting to the latest bits. Or have I missed something?

Yes, you've missed something. In the other thread on this subject. The 'jump' words are there but the colour is very similar to the header bar colour, so difficult to see.

I'm finding it slightly more visible on iPad than laptop but only slightly.

I also find it much more difficult to read and I'm relatively young. It wastes so much space that I'm scrolling a lot more as well.

Have to say I found the old version one of the best on the internet, so it is such a shame to go backwards on the usability front.

I suppose somebody at IPC must have selected this anaemic-looking layout which most of us don't regard as an improvement...

...WHY?
