This new format is lousy! I thought ipc didn't have money to burn?

Well, I for one like it.

I can read it just fine thank you - no need to write in bold thank you. Perhaps you should investigate a sight checkup.

It's not just a skin - it's a new version of vBulletin. It works much better for me - and is capacble of taking advantage of modern browsers. I'm enjoying the new features as well as the new layout. :p

+2 :p

These reactions are much too early; we all need time to use it a bit and become familiar with it. Mustn't be stuck in the mud for the sake of it. And why would IPC ask us what we think? It's free service so they can do what they want with it - including closing it down if that suited their purpose. I'm grateful to them for providing it as a useful conduit for exchange of boating conversation.

I'm also conscious of the morale of those that have been working on this upgrade; just kicking them in the nuts as a knee-jerk reaction is just going to cause their heads to go down. We need constructive feedback only please.

Well I think it's lousy too; much harder to read and wastes loads of space.

I've also found it impossible to paste image URL's from photobucket successfully today, but maybe that's me.

Unless there was a good reason like support, this was indeed change for the sake of it; if support was the reason, not enough homework was done or surely there would be something better available.

Utter nonsense, Robih. That sort of non-critical lassitude encouraged today's dismal educational standards.

The crew at IPC, if indeed this washed-out screen is more than one person's work, deserve to be told it's no conspicuous improvement - quite the opposite. If they had any nerve, they'd have introduced the 'improvements' without changing the readability of the display - but perhaps we wouldn't have noticed, if they'd done it that way. If only...

+1 the tone of some messages is needlessly unpleasant.
I do find the "view first unread" almost invisible, a change in that would definitely be a good thing, no real problem anywhere else.

I think it's great! Much cleaner, more visually appealing. Anyone who has problems reading it obviously needs glasses (or better glasses). Well done IPC!

I expect you like it when the "new, improved" version of a biscuit is smaller and more expensive...better for your diet? ;)

Seems fine to me so far, the mobile version is much better as well.

I agree the smileys are a tad pathetic and I'd prefer the jump to latest post button could be bigger but that's all.

IIRC, the same arguments and protests happened the lsat time the forum software was changed. Its also hard to see if you wear glasses with any tint in them as I do........

Did I say don't criticise? No, I didn't. Please engage brain before fingers on keyboard. What is the point of negative feedback?

And if we are to use analogies I would say that your one-dimensional and ill considered remarks are worthy of Alf Garnett.

"I don't like change......."

I think the new layout is fine, and considering someone else owns the forum and let you use it for free, they can do what they like.

I have no problems using it and quite like the modern look to it.

I couldn't agree more. The new format is like large print on the screen and it simply takes up too much space. I have to scroll down mils of stuff to read the threads. I have to admit that it "seems" to be faster and that must be a good thing but the design is really "iffy".

Yes, most of us are reluctant to accept change. So to be fair I will try to get used to the new format but why the hell make it so difficult to read. The old format had nice clear black text that was easy to read. This is causing me eye strain.

Ah, that's better.
