Last night whilst in the middle of a reply to a post on this site something happened and I suddenly found myself as a "new user".
You all know me as peter_aird but for the time being I'm reduced to this until Kim sorts me out (hopefully).
I hope to get my original identity back in the near future, but until then please be gentle with this "newbie"

I like the sound of 'The Boatman' but it's not very PC. Should it not be 'The Boatperson' ?

It would have been ok though if you had 'cross forumed' for a bit by being say doris_archer.

I lost the icon for posting replies. Then I noticed that it listed me as a new use and told me I would have to register to the site before postings. I've logged back on tonight with no probs so I'll see how it goes even if I have to start from scratch?

I think I'll stick with this name for a while see how it goes,,,and whats wrong with being ever so slightly un PC. I've always thought of myself as a boatman first and a sailor second, but thats probably because I'm better at the first than the second<s>

Peter,

You simply lost your cookie. If that ever happens again log in straight away under original ID and that should be fine. Cookies seem to have a sell-by date sometimes (not technical, more hormonal) and very occasionally need to be refreshed on some browsers/machines.

For anyone reading this that's a good reason to keep your password somewhere you can find it, in case you are a user that tends to stay logged on and normally bury/forget your password somewhere on the computer where cobwebs grow.

Ken, I can see this one running a bit further yet (at my expense). Who'd of thought that a simple thing like losing a "cookie" could cause trouble. Is that like "taking the biscuit"?
