They didn\'t charge enough!

I couldn't undo some small bolts on one of our alternators to get inside and solder a new Adverc lead in place, so I took it to our local auto electrical repair shop. Delivered at 1645, job done by 10.00 and including a health check on it next morning and the cost - just £5. I actually gave the guy £10 but driving away felt guilty that I hadn't given him more.

Maybe I should sell the boat and buy a car. Nah!

Admirable Robin. Giving twice as much as was asked seems generous enough to me. I'd feel sure of good service next visit.

I too, have been incredibly lucky in the finishing of my 29ft. hull, as a local engineering company which specialises in special metals and finishing for the printing industry is happy to take on one-off jobs as a challenge. Charges so little that it has become a joke. Nice that these places still exist !
