As a self appointed expert of this new technology, I’m happy to present you the most traditionalist way of making a Tandem set anchoring..

It is my strong opinion, and opinion held with near-religious fervour, that this long term proved method (more than 2000 years) is the one that will best hold your boat, regardless of the weather conditions.. For centuries, sailors have been using the Rocktandem7 type of anchor to good effect,

Some of you may think that it is blatant self-advertising, and unfortunately I will loose or at least damage my credibility, when I will tell you that I’m planning to launch a new business.. manufacturing and selling this new attractive product.. This is a very original design only slightly inspired by previous other's (not patented ) designs.

As you may have seen in the Web page of my new company, ( web page ) looking at the Video comparative tests, and also from the tests recently published by the French sailing magazine “ENCORE” the curves ( that I have only slightly modified ) show that this new method is by far much better than the absolute plethora of new designs all claiming this or that?
- if you have a Roktandem7 anchor of a suitable size for your boat, you are pretty well kitted up.

As an expert involved in anchoring everything from dinghies to tenders, I can assure you that any piece of rope will perfectly work without the need of a rusty / heavy chain.. (All IMHO of course).

Twice I had very strong winds and waves and to my joy my Rocktandem7 anchor held really well! I was just 20 feet from shore with the wind blowing me on the weed on the surface i couldn’t have left by sail nor motor without been blown on shore!

Oh, goody!

Can I have one in polished stainless steel? ( INOX to you.... )

I'd like to be an early adopter, please, so I can get involved in healthy debates on boaty forums with some experience of something.

And I do like the multicoloured anchor rodes, which tell me which way round to deploy the sooper-dooper-trooper assemblage in various conditions of soggy bottom.

But, tell me no lie, Monsignor Hylas. Have we not seen just such an anchor in the recent Intourist film about the charms of Kazakhstan?

'Previous art?' - as the patent lawyers say.....

Wrong name - The Hylass should be \'Rockham Booooooey Anchor\'

Sorry Hylas, but the purpose of an anchor is to inspire confidence in the user.

1) You only need an anchor when the bar taut catenary goes above the critical angle which in the case of most proper anchors (and a Rocna is a proper anchor) ~+10-14 degrees above horizontal.

2) It appears that there is no European agent for Rocna .... Well there was an EU agent last September, but it seems that the EU has gorne tits up and has now gone 'Global'

3) Bugel v Rocna v Delta ..... case not proven.

OK, This is my first time back from monitoring all the international BB's Rocna's posts which slag off the opposition, but with the greates respect to Rocna, they should develop a world class website. Their current site is a farce - it tells you NOTHING about why you should use a Rocna.

There are two sites where comparative tests have been done using most common anchors and a Rocna is included in both ..... but the results don't favour Rocna in the way that their website says ... ie a) lack of real Rocna data and b) perhaps the most unfriendly anchor website!!!

If Rocna can prove that Alain Fraysse's calcs are all wrong then I'll promise to enter the next OSTAR and eat a bowl of North Devon laver ....

Can I suggest cosmetic improvement which would lead to emotional satisfaction? Carve the stones in the likeness of Bush and Blair before chucking them overboard with the rope around their necks!

Re: Components readily available

I still cant see why anyone wants one when the best anchors a baltic mushroom!!They come in lead steel or rock! Those vikings are technologicly advanced!

The image took ages to load!!

wot a sad git you are

poor old hylas has the piss ripped out of him for failing to appreciate a post that was intended as humour, apologises for his lack of English (if only I was able to converse to any degree in another language) and then puts time into an excellent post wholly for our amusment - and off you go on a rant.

oh dear oh dear oh dear

nice one

What a brilliantly simple concept. This fifth generation system must make all previous designs redundant. YM will have to re do all their tests.

A bet the delivery postage is dear though. SWMBO is going to be delighted to get these in her Christmas stocking.

Just the thing to make us all a little boulder when anchoring /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Ducan, /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

It was rather easy to write this thread in GOOD English, as I just have to pick up some sentences from various threads about anchors.. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

So much easier to copy than to invent something new..

Re: Components readily available

If one only could be a Swiss sailor. I recently saw an article on Swiss steamboats on those lakes they have down there and they did not seem to have anchors at all. The lakes are several hundred meters deep so they cannot anchor anyway. What a relief!

I can vouch for this method of anchoring in a blow.

The last time I was out in a serious blow I had unfortunately forgotten to take my Rocktandem7 but was able to find a suitable rock to use, I think it was called fasten-it or maybe Fastnet, any way slung a rope round it and it never moved an inch and that was in an F10:p

Peter.
