I love this boat and often take a look at her when we pop down tothe island. I just love the way the wheelhouse roof curves both ways, beautifulI think this is a Silverette?

The wood which the chart table was made out of was Honduras Mahogany, the same wood the hull is made from. I will be re-planking Chance above the waterline with a south American mahogany and below the waterline with UK grown Larch and the ribs and frames which need replacing will be made from English oak which is locally sourced and milled at a local sawmill. So I am trying to restore Chance with as much of the original type of wood.Nice Lotus.
That was the way I look at the restoration, we are try to conserve as much of the original as possible. Just removing the old varnish without and the faded wood. however, not going any further, leaving the marks she has had over the years. We are only replacing any of the mahogany with as close a type as the original that way there will a close colour match to the parts we have able to save when removing the interior furniture over the past two years.Great. Taking off another layer of the surface would not have been good. It has a history.
Hi Ben,Good progress. Nice to start building a pile of bits to put back on.
Nice Europa!
Hi Tiller girl,Sad. Very sad. Ann sounds very similar to my mother, able to cope with troubles. Of course your minds have been away from Chance but Ann will be expecting Chance will be back afloat.
I have negotiated a visit on the grounds of taking my wife with me and taking her to lunch after I have pestered you. Must sort out a day.
