All these Solent knockers must be missing out.
On Saturday we pottered out of Gossie and went west up the beach to check out everything. We then blasted out to the Nab, just to see if it was leaning any more, it isn't, then had a delightful sail back past Cowes.

The tide was kicking in big time (top of springs) so we turned back east and there, out towards Lee on Solent, was the entire Sunsail fleet have a race. We endeavoured to keep out of their way as we admired the good, bad and downright terrible aspects of large scale corporate chartering then we eased back into Gossie. 50 odd boats introducing loads of peeps to sailing, can't be that bad.

About six hours and very enjoyable sailing with the only boat avoidance being going through the SS fleet. Wind F4/5 occ 6 and sunshine all day. Sea state outside the Solent probably rather nasty. Lots of escapades to look at and happy bunnies all round. Monday morning, chucking it down with rain, there is a god after all!

All that for just £10,000 per annum berthing!
Marvelous!

East Coast - Got covered in cold slimy mud this morning. Lost a welly.
Possibly hypothermic but skin feels lovely except where bitten by ragworm.

Total Cost £200 berthing + beer for the guy with the tractor!

Gosh! I wish I could afford a huge gin palace like wot you must have. £10k pa gets you a berth for at least a 50 footer down my way.

Shhhhh! Don't tell them what it is really like otherwise it'll get too busy here. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Friday, 30+ miles of sailing in The Wash, sun all day, F4/F5.
Out to Roaring Middle, watched the Customs boat "Vigilant" rush past, then back home.....

Saw another sailing boat.

£30 a year, they must have seen me coming! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

but other than The Wash, where can you go in say 4 hours?

Me, oh where do I start?
Poole, Weymouth, Cowes, Beulieu, Southampton, Folly Inn, Newton Creek, Osborne bay, Christchruch, Alum Bay, Freshwater Bay, Studland Bay, Chichester, portsmouth, Ryde, Yarmouth.

Push that up to 10 hours and I'm in the foreign.

Still clear water and no mud, still no contest.

Seems to me that there is a lot of contest between 30 quid and 500! Anyway, why would anybody want to go to those places you mention? They are just full of hooray henrys, chinless wonders, and folk that want to coo-ee and wave to each other......I would sooner have some of Tommyrot's 30 quid solitude any day of the week! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Beats me why anyone wants to stop after just 4 hours.......

I go sailing for the sailing, if I want to go and do shopping or go to the pub, i'll use the car or the bus! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Forgot to add....

I've sailed to Ryde, Cowes and The Folly (complete with dancing on tables), no ambitions to do it a second time!

"Beats me why anyone wants to stop after just 4 hours......."

Stamina old boy, those chappies in the Solent don't have much of it, need to be close to one of those marinas so they can socialise and indulge in posh nosh and drinky poos! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Mind you, I mustn't be too harsh, some of them have done circumnavigations...............

Of the Isle of White! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Think I saw you there, weren't you the miserable looking bloke on his own in the corner?

Well I went to Cowes, Newtown, Yarmouth, Lymington, Beaulieu and the Hamble this weekend and didn't see anyone resembling that description.

That's because I didn't get down to the boat this weekend. All those plebs at the Boat Jumble, y'know.......... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
