I hate to think how much my stay in a NHS private room after my open-heart surgery must have cost. It was not urgent, either, but better done before my heart deteriorated further. One of the preliminary investigations (I believe to ensure my heart was worth salvage!) needed general anaesthetic. So my brain is quite well numbed...
SWMBO had a new shoulder done three years ago - they quoted her £7,000 in England but fortunately the NHS found an early spot, perhaps because her shoulder was totally frozen. Then the op was contracted out to the private hospital and surgeon we'd approached in the first place!
She was back up and running - well, sailing - in just a couple of months, all pain gone, about 80% mobility. Keep up the physio and I hope you will get a similar result.
Oh, and get used to being frisked at every airport security gate from now on.
I have always found that being on high levels of pain killers was an interesting experience, although not one that I particularly what to repeat all that often!
