Helen was launched at Two Rocks Marina several weeks ago. She had to be motored 40km to Hillarys Marina to be rigged.. Once rigged she was relaunched on Friday 15th. We sailed her back to Two Rocks Marina last Sunday.

Helen looks gorgeous - you did well and should be immensely proud. She's a big yacht - a fearsome undertaking.

I'm no expert, I know nothing of, Western Australian weather (except that Perth always seems warmer the Sydney) - but I think you need boom covers (and maybe a UV strip on the head sail)

Lithium was born and has become mainstream as you built - have you gone the lithium route?

Maybe I'll wait for Sodium ion battery.

Nice looking boat, very similar bow shape to Rivals', but different stern. Hope you have years of enjoyable sailing.
Lithium Air batteries, as used in the likes of hearing aids, apparently have had a breakthrough technology that allows them to be scaled up. I think for many coastal cruisers waiting is the best choice as lead acid still provides the juice.

Well done Clive

That's one in the eye for the detractors and a real true PBO project that need encouraging.

I know what effort it takes to get a boat from just a bear hill to launce let alone to build the hull and superstructure from plans in the outback on your own. I had several employees to help with mine and it still took 4.5 years

If you pass jy way let me know and we can have a beer or 3 and discuss sailing, you will be welcome ay ZYC and see a bit more of Africa

When Helen was in the Tammy Lift ready for launch the operator announced the weight of Helen was 11.6 tonnes. That initially surprised me as the designed weight was 12.193 tonnes. I knew cored boats were lighter than solid glass. (Helen has a n Airex cored hull and a Divinycell cored deck) so that undoubtedly explains the difference.
