The boating forum , today compared to 2014

There's vastly more stuff on the internet. Yes, a lot of it is irrelevant, ill-informed or useless, but the quantity of genuinely useful information is far greater too. Think how many commercial boat-related businesses and boat clubs and associations have useful websites with real solid information on them.

Youtube videos are variable in accuracy and usefulness, but there's often one where someone has filmed themselves showing how to solve a problem that I've got.

I was never much interested in the general ill-informed chat on here. I'm not sure I've ever visited The Lounge in the 19 years I've been a member.

There's still some useful information, help and discussion on the Forums. If only someone could invent a simple filter to prevent the start of even more anchoring religious wars, and the intervention of the Do-It-My-Way Taliban Morality Police who, like the Spanish Inquisition, pop up out of nowhere just as I'm enjoying the members' rich variety of methods, techiques and suggestions . . .

"Tempora mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis" ?

A few mins on Youtube , usually gives a good idea of whats involved in any simple 5 min repair job :ROFLMAO: you were thinking about doing.
After all just how difficult could it possibly be ?
No mention of course of the hours spend removing stuff in front in order to see the problem let alone get at it.

Very true, one of the most comical was the "exploding bog" post many years ago by the late Haydn, people like him made this forum knowledgeable and fun to read.
‘The Exploding Bog’!😁
When I see bog questions on here now I always giiggle ref Hayden’ Postings ref the above!
Good Old Cantankerous ‘HLB’ !
😂

I have to admit that when I post a question on here .. I am also searching Youtube .. IMHO - there's no substitute for as many angles on a problem as you can get.

Of course some are just plain BS and need be discarded ...

Its another world - but the RC Model world has seen a revolution in Radio gear that is truly mind boggling ... Youtube has helped so many make the transition ... many of these sophisticated multi-function radios have Chinglish manuals ....
