For a bit of history bash pirate radio into your fav search engine and you will find one detailing the history all the Mansell forts.Red Sands could still be explored a year or two ago via a very dodgy old ladder.Remains of "Radio 390" painted on wall can still be made out.First radio occupant was Radio Sutch.
Am of course telling you how to suck eggs but do pick your day.Nice stiff breeze against tide will give you an interesting ride home.Esp if you have a bit of fuel tank muck waiting for a bit of rough to help get it into your filters./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Havengore is not bad at all as long as you go through in reasonable conditions and at the top of the tide. Give "shoe bridge" a call on the VHF and ask him for the height of tide. I have gone through at about 5m but ideally you want 5.2m. Also remember to phone the bridge before you set out as it is not always in operation.
