We are in the process of buying a new boat but it does not have a Passerelle/Davits/Tender Crane.

I had purchased some snap davits that I intended to fit to our old S37 so could use these, cant afford to fit a Passerelle so wondered what other options might be practical/affordable?

Regards

Andy

We have Hurley davvits on Rafiki, makes launch/recovery very simple. We have 2 transom gates, so we can moor either port or starboard. With your set up, transom gates aren't an issue, but you would need to check if you have sufficient bathing platform, but from the pics, this looks ok on the F43.

Go take a look at my mate Nigel F43 he made his own system to carry an Avon sea sport jet rib yet it's lifted with normal davits that you can buy used off eBay at certain times. The frame he made takes the weight on we it's sat there. Boats at cabin yard .

Hi Paul,

met and got very drunk with Nigel and Ali in Cowes a few weeks back, never made there offer of breakfast as was too hung over lol.

Will give him a call and take a look on Saturday

I had davits on my 410 and hated them - always in the way, real hassle if you moor alongside, slow to use etc. Took them off and used snap davits. Easy to get dinghy on and off very quickly. Moored up I used to tie the top of the dinghy to the radar mast so it was easy to walk under the rope in either direction. The vertical (almost) dinghy acted as a little safety security when crossing the bathing platform - especially late at night (hic). When you leave the boat for a while the dinghy can be tipped inwards so it won't fill with rain water. I set my metal clip on stays like this.

Only issue is lifting the outboard on/off. We had a 2.5 hp 2 stroke so tiny and light. However a small rotating crane with a simple block and tackle would have worked a treat for something bigger. Keep it simple

edit this is probably a bit too simple but would work

I went to see Jeremy Rodgers today re Atlas Davits as I have been looking at them for a while now, they start at £5k for the baby model and go up from there, they are top end and very expensive

You have very expensive whittall davits on the s37.

If you intend to stow aboard with the outboard removed?

I have a Quicksilver 380 3.8m all pvc not a solid floor, two people can carry it I stow it on Weaver snap davits ideal for me.

It carries 4 to 5
