Cruising, racing, rafting alongside, crossing tacks, whatever -- when you're shouted at across the water, what's the most withering put-down you can think of?
people who shout at you generally WANT you to shout back. Smiling and waving or simply ignoring them annoys the hell out of them and you maintain your dignity!!
Failing that of course - come along side and through your anchor into thier cockpit - that tends to shut 'em up.
(joke BTW, in case you think I'm a thug and avoid me on the water next season!!)
Normally I leave the shouting to my 7yr old son, who simply shouts 'Idiot Boat'.
This is now our generic name for all crass behaviour, especially when the Gin Palaces emerge from Portsmouth harbour after their arduous trip from Port Solent, and decide to open up in the small ships channel.
