Just a quick query as to what sealer you use (not varnish) im more interested in the colour finish prefered. Ta very muchly.
Hi,
Yes please ,identifying that other treatment would be great if it's not too much aggro. I just had a quick look on Force 4 and the only thing I could see was called Owatrol.
I've been a fan of Semco, and have a big tin of it ready to use in the next couple of weeks on all the teak but am always keen to see what else is out there, especially if someone has tried it and got good results.
Thanks,
Andy
Not cheap though, and if you accidentally kick over a nearly full tin you will actually cry.
Be back asap.

Interesting semco comes off with 2 part cleaner. Any one tried. Does it really come off ?
Well I checked the tin but guess what? they've changed the look with new colours and image.
As 'salar' said, "Deks olje" is what it is and for me better and easier to use than Semco.
Be aware though, there is a gloss and a satin finish. For decks, the satin is great for gunwhales or rubbing strakes, I would suggest the gloss.
Tin looks like this now:

Hi
Do you have any photo,s of the decks treated with Deks olje, been using semco last few years and as mentioned does not last a season. Be good to see before re coating , have you tried removing it with two part cleaner,s, just wondering if it comes off as easy as semco or is it similar to sadlins,
Thanks

Not tried yet as it's still so good, but I highlighted the Gloss/Satin mention above. Gloss would look rubbish on the decks. imho.
I haven't taken any pictures but I could as the swim platform is finished with Semco and needs doing again while the cockpit and stairs up are still good finished with Deksolje. :encouragement:
There might be a delay tho as swmbo is having a new hip on Thursday and I'll be away from the boat for a few weeks.:disgust:

No problem, leaving doing the teak a bit longer this year , might go back to leaving them natural after the two part clean just to see how long they stay clean, hope your swmbo op goes ok
