Nothing to do with outboards

A velly complex formula, I've actually forgotten how to do the calc. Only truly understood by Wakeup, who did the research and developed and patented the algorithm.

We could be approaching an opportunity for tcm to post that pic of the babes on his foredeck again, excellent.

Re: Nothing to do with outboards

in the absence of wakeup, i can reveal the forumla which is a constant (i think .7) times the overall length of the boat in metres. But OB value is reduced to zero for flybridges, i'm afraid. Time for a reworking, i think. Search for "OB refresher" on this forum.

Re: OB rating

Aye TCM is now the keeper of the formula, sworn to secrecy is he.

JFM absolutey spot on, T Trader almost unique in scoring a negative on this scale but kept company with any Broom.

Re: OB rating

Wakeup Wakeup , we need for you to refine the formula... new coefficients required for ...

A) Fly bridge upstairs space only ( reduced by height of flybridge coaming)
b) Brand
c) Country of Manufacture
d) Horses or even HP
e) Colour of and smells emanating from engines
f) Plumed or non-plumed wake
g) Cruising Ground

Get to it me lad..

Re: OB rating

OB Refresher...

OB Rating Formula

This figure is subjective depending upon seating arrangements, however I have now, under the guidance of Stephen Hawkin, come up with indisputable formulae for the ob rating which is a function of the length.

ob = S (Sqrt L)

Where L is Length in Feet

and S is 1.443 but is subject to change by the forum from time to time.

So using TCM's dingy as an example......

L23 ob = 1.443 (Sqrt 76)

ob = 1.443 x 8.72

ob = 12.58

But we all know that you can't have .58 of an ob so round up to nearest.

Therefore ob = 13

REMEMBER space for OBs down below doesn't count, they all have to be up on deck or cockpit on display without any crowding or crushing!!!

However this is still a rudimentary formulae and isn't seasonally adjusted and is designed for sportcruisers use only! Flybridges don't get obs anyway so no need to bother.

PS OBs standards for "Obligatory Babes" although my mates use the Ali G esque version of B for something else.

Enjoy

Re: OB rating

E, in answer to your request for clarification....

A) Correct if Fly bridge divide the OB rating by 3 and times by two to get the real OB rating.
B)If a TT or a Broom then add 2 to the OB rating and take away from original ob rating...
C)European add 1 to the rating if Italian add 2, if Yank deduct 2 and if Taiwanese then deduct all.
D)Must be 100hp ber OB less deduct accordingly from OB rating.
E)High Octane add 3, oil burner 0, with soltron deduct 2.
F)Rooster tail= OB x2 thats why Don Johnson always drove Scarabs with plumes.
G)Deduct 2 for the UK, 4 if the solent, deduct 5 in spain or exchange for equal number of WT ;-), +2 if Cap Antibes or Cap Ferrat.

Clear as mud eh, anyone what an independant OB survey then PM me, very reasonable rates.....

Re: OB rating

That's a lot more like it , only adjustment I would make ;-

So

JFM's Sq 58 has a rating of 9
TCM's L23 has a new rating of 17 (which is a bit blooming greedy if you ask me) and
Wakeup , you have an OB rating of 4 ,

I of course score zero with no boat , however that is better than owning a Solent-based Broom so QED must be right !

Re: OB rating

Can the OB rating go minus, cos if it can't it must be wrong. So for example if you turn up in a Trader do all the babes rush from the scene as elderly grannies wobble Traderwards on their zimmerframes?

Re: OB rating

OH Yes definitely can go -ve and ensure that any boat in the vicinity also looses much of their OBs
