Cruise Reports Taking our yacht to Sweden for the summer - any 50m marinas?

Sure.

Head up now... Let me know, I'll book flights.

Sea-trials on Monday.

Depending on them, it's off to Vigo according to the current plan.

It is a boat. There is weather. There are unknowns. So I apologise for any variation, but we're a year behind already... Really want it to see some action.

All help appreciated.

What are you going to do with it when you get to vigo? Are the crew just required to get you there? Are you covering expenses to get to Norway and return from Spain? bit more info required.

Yep, certainly. Just because enthusiasts arenthe most welcome.

Bringing in professional captain, mate, and engineer(s). Looking for watch bodies and drinking companions (if the departure is delayed, or the arrival is ahead of schedule).

If something goes wrong, I'll also cover return flights to UK/home.

Looking for engineer capable crew most of all.

Fingers crossed that this time, with enough people showing up - we are all go.

Thanks all, in advance.

Rob

To clarify...

Flights out and back... Hopefully up to Norway, back from Vigo/Spain.

There's a chance that Vigo may not be... So either flights back from Norway, or from Ibza - if that's where the boat ends up.

Vigo is to do a bit more work. She's still well away from complete. Cozy, but not classy. If that goes well, we'll be in the Med by early summer.

And there will be more invitations then too. This thread has been a hoot.... So who knows, we all may end up friends. I'm in NZ, so am unlikely to make it up. Sorry to disappoint.

✓ Dinghy Working.

✓ Nav systems working. 3x Radars + 4-point GPS system + Chart Plotters and echo-sounders integrated.

✓ All engines online and without mishap for 5.5 hours continuous running. Steering and CPP working.

✓ Fueling commencement.

1/2: Radios connected to the MIS System.

• Anchors Tested.

✓ New Bowthruster ordered.

Still happy to take you on your word thus far, but need dates.

Sorry for delay. Been out in The Pacific Islands for past 10 days with limited internet. Four crew are already aboard. Two more fly in in next week. And two more the weekend after. Maybe up to 10 aboard.

2x engineers.
3x captains
2x OOW/Navigatiors.
3x enthiasts,
And hopefully, me.

Boat will leave Skundenshaven by the 15th. Bowthruster is aboard, but not installed. Should have a fairly good crew aboard. I'm about 30% likely to be there.

I guess the boat is going to be fueling in Haugesund at some point between the 10th and the 15th. It will depart Norway between the 15th and the 20th, weather window/crew dependent.

Vigo or Valencia is the target. Crew and journey dependent, too.

I can see new flag but not new name. Any photos of her conversion ? All naysayers including me were wrong. Apologies. Good luck to Rob and all who sail with him.

Thanks Ocean Sprint!

Old and new (they deleted six, because they thought it was copyright infringement... I don't know why). I asked them to restore, but it's Easter.

The work in progress:
https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/ST-CHRISTOPHER-IMO-7332775-MMSI-512006043

Both show the new flag and new name, but it's hard to get some of the other features changed. The vHF is still broadcasting Rescue Support Vessel, not yacht. It seems.

9 persons confirmed so far.

6 aboard, one enroute, and two more possibilities, once we get departure finalised. 36,000 liters of diesel being trucked to the wharf this week.

We may buy another tender (3-5m range) as the big blue one is too heavy to pull up on a beach/use every day.

:)

Exciting moments. Oh, and insurance coverage sorted. Hooray. That was a tricky thing too, not the easiest.

Rob.

Wishing you the best of luck. I'd love to join but timing isin't good (away foreign next week) and have to be around for some charter work at the end of the month... however by end of April happy to jump on-board :p

36,000 liters!!!!
This project is beyond epic. Best of luck with your maiden voyage Capital R:encouragement:

And here's some pictures (which I presume Robert does not have :) ) from Easter this year ..

1) St Christopher as she looks now in the background
2) From the top of Skudenes, you can see her wheelhouse to the left in the picture
3) The path they need to take her out from Skudenes ...

Alf!

You've made my day. New boat pictures are always pleasing.

I particularly like the one with all the rooves - Alf, if you're got more, I'd love it. You and all your connections!

Thank you :)

Thanks Bouba

Yep.... i just got the invoice. So it's real. #ThankYouAmex

And, what's eye-popping, is that these are just the engine-room day tanks. That's barely over 5% of full capacity (not that we'll ever load her to her load lines again).... But plenty to get her to Spain. Or... Sit at anchor for about two years on the harbour gens and the new solar and batteries, and LED lights I've just ordered.

We've been running on harbour gensets for nearly two weeks, but will have 10 people aboard soon, and with all the hot water circulating keeping the engines from icing, and all the fresh water ballast tanks above 2.9°C ... Will probably kick over into the mid-sized generators.

It's exciting.

It's exciting.
I can see why, even if I'm not contributing a lot to this thread because it's a bit too far from my boating soul, so to speak.
To the point that I very much doubt I would do anything similar also if I could.
But exciting it is for good, all the very best to everybody involved!

Thanks MapisM!

Yes, it's kind of hard to think why I didn't just buy a hand full of 40 footers in different locations and use the one that wasn't broken every now and then.

Apparently they're doing Oil Changes on the main engine this week, so she'll be smooth as silk, ready for launch.
