But Rob, you yourself posted on here with a collage of pics and a name tag!

It's a bit strange that you put clues to your (supposed) identity and then complain that people are putting your name out here!!

Exactly! This thread is becoming surreal.

It's like being in a forum filled with the seagulls from Finding Nemo.

.... A pic with some images, of part of my name, is clearly identifiable by a human with pre-existing context...

But for a search bot... Not so much.

Plus, surely, contributors can respect a distinction between me sharing things that I am comfortable sharing, vs random lari's posting what-ever they can find on the internet...

I don't mind people who have the interest to read through the posts to collect who I am over many various pages.

But as soon as someone puts it all in one place on one page, I do have an issue....

Please be polite at least. It doesn't seem too much, to ask this?

Oh... And thanks for the people who reach out to our comms teams in NZ... It's been done a few times now, but it's not necessary any more. If some of those who have, could verify it for the forum, then that would be nice...
I was hoping that someone else would do the verification thing but nobody has so I'll do it. I sent a message using the Contact form on the website of Capital_R's principal business. That was forwarded to his PR firm, who drafted a formal reply and forwarded it to Capital_R who added a personal comment and forwarded it to me. I expanded the message headers and checked them. Only a professional spoofer could have made that message path look so authentic. I think it's genuine and therefore I think that Capital_R is who he said he is but doesn't want us to say here any more.

And the PR firm told me that the boat project does exist.

What has gone wrong here is that the boat project is so far outside the world we on the forum inhabit that it was natural for its reality to be questioned. Capital_R didn't provide convincing evidence at an early stage that the boat project truly exists, and some of his ideas were, ahem, controversial. Therefore we became doubtful about whether the boat exists and then some of us also questioned his identity. I now think his identity is a red herring and I have a suggestion.

I think this thread should be allowed to die. The title is nonsense and over half the posts are now irrelevant. I suggest that Capital_R starts a new thread with a more appropriate title. I have lots of questions about the boat and how the project is going to be managed but I hate this thread, it's peppered with acrimony and distrust.

Capital_R - if you accept my idea I suggest you ask Hannah or Jacinda to vet the new thread title and your opening post. Like it or not this stuff is going to impact your PR work. At the moment I would say the impact is negative.

PS: If our boats are ever in port together please come over for a drink.

Thanks for the explanation, I can see where you're coming from now.

Btw I've never seen finding nemo so don't get the seagull reference. Also agree that being polite is welcome.

This thread has now moved over to:

Please keep up with developments there!!

Safe sailing...

but I like this fantasy

Me too, but realistically, this was just an attack on my potential identity, laced sporadically with references to a seemingly improbable boat project... Anyhow.. maybe the forum will let us merge all these threads into a combined project, and we can keep chatting away.

I like the discussion here about the details. I love documentation, and records of how decisions were made.... So I'm open to sharing. :)

Fair points.

If JFM is agreeable... So am I. Photo taken, despite it being 5.44am here at present.

JFM, confidentiality request - please agree to partake, and also not share the pic. Sorry in advance for the pic, which is not as great as Henry's from Witherspoon's.
I don't follow this thread and haven't looked in since my last post several pages above, a few months ago. I only just saw the above post, and therefore I'm sorry if it appeared I was rudely not replying. You can send a pic if you want but I don't think there is any point and certainly there is no need. I don't doubt that you are the real Rob Bell, as in the kiwi offset currency exchange business guy. I don't think you're an imposter and don't think I've ever said that. My complaint is just that you are fabricating a lot of this boat story and this forum isn't a fantasy fiction place. You started off this thread with pictures of someone else's superyacht design grabbed from the 'net, photoshopped by you, and you passed that off as an illustration of your project, yet you knew it was nothing of the sort. Then people spotted what you had done yet you carried on with a half baked story. Then the later pictures show basically a beaten up old tub of a boat. That's perfectly fine - people like old tubs - but it's not exactly going to turn into the explorer yacht renderings that you have recently posted above, is it? And that weird sketch with engines off the centreline a few months ago was just fantasy. We're all interested in a real do-er upper project/major refit and would be happy to contribute ideas etc, but not when the thread is littered with posts from you Rob that are at best weirdly full of carp and at worst are designed to mislead. It would be great if you just stuck to the actual story about the actual boat, without all the carp, but no worries either way because everyone knows about this thread and reading it is entirely optional. Good luck with the real boat refit project :encouragement:

Welcome back JFM!

We'd all got a bit tired of this thread I think. Would love to have all the thoughts and encouragement the forum can offer.

She's going to look as close to the "new" 'grey' pics as we can reasonably get. They're certainly the target for the yard and team working on her at the moment. We'll see. Mate... It's so fun. I'm not sure about the offset engines, and the solar panels will be less than initially planned.

But not a lot of stuff will be greatly different.

Either way, hopefully this will turn out to be real enough for a generous gaggle of forum members to join us in the med for a bit of a splash around this summer.

:) See you round, maybe over here:. http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthrea...ersion-Project-Supply-Vessel-to-Support-Yacht

I have a lovley picture of the boat, now cleaned of almost all its commercial equipment, sitting in the snow in Norway.

It's very nice, but I am out of memory on YBW so I can't upload it. If anyone wants to upload it for me, I'd happily email it!

Emails sent... Thank you! Hope the pics look good..!

Hi team... If anyone is keen to head up, we need about 4-6 more people, for a team total of 8-10 crew.

If anyone's keen.

If you wake up in an ice bath with only one kidney....you only have yourself to blame :D:D:D

Joke......

If you do go we expect an extensive report!

I promised myself i'd learn from last time that happened ... down to one now :p

I'm willing to give OP benefit of the doubt.... if he books flights etc. then what do I have to lose? (apart from that last kidney)

That said, real world has unfortunately hit me in the last few years so can't just jet off on a whim :(
