Does anyone know if there is a problem with taking food - fresh or otherwise - to France, from the UK, on holiday in a sailing boat? Does it get confiscated? (re: Foot and Mouth)
I've just returned from a few days in N Brittany. Follwing advice from the RYA we took very little in the way of fresh meat or dairy products - just enough milk etc. to last us for the trip over. We had then planned to buy fresh when we got to France and had no problem. We did get a visit from the French customs though,(the first time ever after many trips!)after we had all been ashore but I think they just wanted something to do and were quite happy with the boats papers and three passports despite there being six of us on the trip! The only concession to F&M was to walk through a tray with a large piece of foam soaked in dissinfectant which had been placed on the quayside at the end of the pontoon.
We run an international transport company....last week one of our drivers had his jammy dodgers confiscated near the Spanish border. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
