Looking for advice on a new system, go with Tacktick or any other alternatives that you would recommend.

I would also add that there was a newish (2006) Tacktick fitted when I viewd the boat, it was also there when it was surveyed (tested and working), but when picked up by the skipper I hired a couple of weeks later, he reported that the boat had no wind indication system. This is a separate subject that is currently under investigation (not the skipper as he is know and trusted by a personal friend). I will report back on this later.

Even more puzzling was that it was not just the receiver unit that was missing from the binnacle, but also the mast head transponder unit. So must have needed at least a couple of people to liberate the tacktick transponder from aloft.

I fitted a complete tacktick system last winter and have been very pleased with it. the mast-head unit did fail after a couple of months but was swaped for another and has been fine since.

Not having wires to feed down a mast makes fitting a doddle.

Simple - previous owner took it with him for use on next boat.

Cheapest around - Seamark Nunn £549

Have got it in my boat - exellent bit of kit (only 2 negative points 1) backlighting 2) manual reads like it's been translated into English from Korean by a Frenchman - clear & concise it's not)

Nexus do an alternative:

Fitted one recently. Seems to work.

It's the one on the left.

Ditto - basically very pleased - but also had the masthead fail part way through second season - apparently they did have a problem with this (wind speed seems to get sticky ?)

Sent me a replacement to swap (meaning one trip up the mast) so long as I sent the duff one back - and give a full warranty on the replaced one - so can't complain really

We're also thinking of a Tacktick wireless system (speed/depth/wind). The cheapest I can see is the pack at just over £1000, which would be OK if not having to deal with the wires (current Corus system is totally unreliable).

It says that it interfaces with wired systems. If you've got all that then what do you need to interface with? We've got a Garmin GPS (not chartplotter) and also some autohelm system (need to check). Just a bit confused as to what you can do with these systems, as I grew up with compass & echosounder.
