Tablet with gps reccomendation

I have a Samsung 10" tablet, about 4yrs old now and has gps and works well with Navionics. Got a newer Samsung recently and also has gps with Navionics. Also copied to my phone - Android of course - I'm not an Apple fan...

I have a refurbished samsung galaxy active tab 2 with a 4g sim card, it is fully waterproof, my 3 year old plays with it in the water at the beach and in the hot tub, quite sturdy, good gps, runs navionics well, and ram do a pogo pin vehicle charging cradle that still charges when its wet no problem.
The ram mount holds it on my jetski even while getting some decent air.

apple i pad , with gps
only prob i found was that if not being tampered with it shuts down then got to start it up again ,, maybe a setting

I've just bought a Galaxy Tab S5e new from ebay for £265 as I have an android phone, and its perfect for Navionics.
The Samsung Tab S tablets are great.
I've had several - fast, high resolution and bright colours.
Speakers are really loud making it a great replacement for a TV or Video conferencing etc.
And way cheaper than Apple when comparing like for like.
Mine runs Navionics and OpenCPN - under OpenCPN, it uses the same charts that I use on the boat - mainly ones that I have georeferenced myself.

I've got three Samsung phones , all latest edition , S20 and S20 Note and I use the New navionics and the Lowrance / C-Map stuff really well . The screens aren't really big enough even though they are the biggest screens on the market at the moment.
I've just ordered a HDMI / USB-C cable to connect my Slate tab to my Samsung and give that a try. I never seem to be able to use Open CPN, find the Navionics much easier to use, although the charts on Lowrance app seem superior.

I have an iPad Air, that ha GPS and no cellular option.

I've also had non cellular Lenovo 7" that had GPS on it too ( made a good Sat nav in car too)....

I can't conceive any £100 tablet that wouldn't have GPS these days! HUWAWEI All do I think.

Indeed. I bought a cheapy from Tescos. GPS with Navionics works well but is very hard to see the screen outside in the sun.

D

Does anybody know if you can plug an external GPS usb receiver into a tablet with no built in GPS?
If it was on windows i dont see it being a problem but not sure about Android, will it recognise it??

Got an oldish HP Slate 21 that would be perfect as a chart plotter but no GPS but its a huuuuuuge touch screen. :)
Hiya,

not pratically no. apart from the problem of probably loosing the charging port to the gps,,the actual android software is written to look for internal gps. However,,,you could always use a gps to wifi unit, like the quarlk elec 012....this sends the gps nmea to the device via a non intrenet wifi connection.
