I have been preparing for the new boat, removing safety equipment and spare parts from the old boat, I decided to lay it all out in the conservatory and dining room to categorise it and decide where and if it should go on the new boat, and also if after reviewing the risk assessment report if there is anything else we need.

As I was laying it out SWMBO cam in and started asking lots of questions, like when did you get this, I never knew we had that, how much would you get for that (Zodiac 260 and mercury 2.5). I asked why she wanted to know and her reply was, well after you have gone I am getting rid of the lot /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I said what do you mean? She said that it is my hobby and that she is just funding it to keep me happy /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I get a £2k allowance from her each month which has to include fuel, marina and stuff, she said she is now going to review that /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

So has she been faking enjoyment on the boat or is there anything more sinister going on, I am scared to eat my meals now just in case there is anything in them /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Is this the turning point? Is our relationship on the rocks?

Also is there a charity for poor kids or something that I could leave some stuff to in my will, I would turn in my grave knowing all my gear is in the local charity shop for tight fisted raggies to stock up with /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

This is serious, please help me /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

[/ QUOTE ] Don't worry. Keep eating what she gives you.

(he he)

well she's obviously overpaying you !! & didn't you say that you & your wife had to have separate bedrooms on your new boat, at her insistance /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

the good sign is she is still talking to you .....

bad sign she is assessing her assets, and wants to improve her knowledge obout boat trivia ....

cant you convince her that 2k is wholly inadaquate and if she really loves you she should increase it by at least 50% .... ?

This is NOT a laughing matter, she is LISTING EVERYTHING on her laptop in an Excel spread sheet /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, I have left the room, she wants to know exactly what everything is for, and if I ever used it, some of it has never been unwrapped /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I must say I didn't really realise myself how much I had accumulated and she is blaming the fuel consumption on me /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I spent £1,900 on fuel in 9 days in Poole, nearly a whole months budget, even Duncan couldn't work out the figures at the time, could it have been excess weight? I even spent a lot of that time rafted up with Duncan, GeoffS and Col /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

It seems to be a massive accumulation of all my 3yrs of boating, what would it be like after 5yrs? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif She mentioned something about she would hate to think what she would have found if I had a boat with an attic. She is fuming and now calculating what she says should be the proper cost for running the boat, I just guessed the figure before because that is around what I was spending /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif She also found the invoives for all the new kit I bought at the boat show and had delivered direct to the boat yard where they are preparing the new boat, she wants to know why we need the new plotter with sonar and a radar to get to Studland bay from Poole because she could do it with her eyes shut /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I can see she will not allow a lot of it on the new boat, I should have just bought the 34ft er, and she would never have known /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

This is NO laughing matter, I need to know what to say to her in a few hours when she has a break /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I am keeping WELL out of the way, thank goodness I have the Blackberry.

Well I didn't want to say owt........ say hi to Louise for me and I'll see her soon /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

isn't excel limited to about 8000 rows? you will be fine she wont get everything on one spreadsheet!

Thats £24k a year by my reckoning which is about 4 times as much as my 36 footer takes to run annually /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Better hope she doesnt ask you what you're doing with the cash thats left over .........

Thats the trouble with us blokes - we enter these relationships with " Miss Right " willingly without checking her first name - which inevitably is " Always "

See, it's this size thing again but in reverse. Your boat looks big out of the water but will shrink by at least 50% once it enters the water. Your kit, conversly has grown to double it's actual size by being brought indoors. If you had laid it out in the garden this whole mess would never have started.
You've only got yourself to blame. Take it like a man!

For £1500 per month, I'm prepared to take her off your hands. Think of it, she'll be £500 pm better off and I'll probably go before you anyway, so she'll have her fun sooner.
