Swap for sail ?

I am getting a bit long in the tooth & don't have regular crew so I tend to use the engine more than the sails which makes me wonder if I would be happier with a mobo. Have many of you made the same change or have you never been sailors ?

Gave up with trying to beat nature in the UK,

So much easier and the guys over here are pretty friendly too

sailed all my life, but SWMBO will not tolerate it, I think it was 13 hrs from Yarmouth to dartmouth in F6-7 wind on the nose & raining that finally killed it...... so have Mobo, we both love the boating life and to be honest I now don't miss the saily bit... make sure you get the right sort of mobo and the yachties will still talk to you.

I wuld say that question can only be answered by yourself - if you like sailing, and the issue is lack of crew/age, then perhaps a smaller/newer boat with some of the furling toys? Perhaps a pukka motor sailor rather than a yacht that happens to have an engine??

If you just like being on the water full stop and you can take or leave the sailing element, then a mobo seems optimal...

I always thought that when I get to the point I physically couldn't manage the sailing, then a motor sailer would be my choice - for me it's that magic quiet that descends when you turn the engine off....

He probably means one that looks like a sailboat.
