My 3 year old engine has decided to not want to tick over, fine at higher revs. It just will not tick over or run with the throttle below the starting position. I’m guessing carburettor problem, any other thoughts?

I have the same engine, aprox. the same age. experienced this exact issue a couple o months ago. After cleaning the carburator jets by a mechanic the problem was completely gone.

Agree, my DF5 is very tricky. Strip, Clean carb. Squirt carb cleaner thro’ jets. Use a fuel system cleaner with every fill. Carb is prone to blockage, especially ethanol jelly.

On a separate but related note was Is the brass looking tube that goes into the top of the carb, shown in the picture, it has no filter or anything else inside it?

Its the vent. Older ones ( DF6 ) had a hose on it but no hose is listed for DF6a
