I am in the process of buying an Azimut 46 and would like to hear from potential surveyors with experience of this boat.

Re: Azimut 46 where ?

Obviously the prospect of a new boat went to my head. Apologies for the missing important information. The vessel in question is on the Hamble. I am London based. Thanks and apologies again.

Re: Surveyor

Dear UK

A widely respected poster hreabouts - tcm - reccomends
<<use Frank Verrill (if in UK) number in back of MBY >> = Motor Boat & Yachting magazine.

I cannot really reccomend our surveyor from 1996 as I've heard probs since.

Best wishes and welcome to the madhouse.

Med-Sale?

I had dealings with these people a couple of years ago on a brokerage boat (not Azimut) approx £140k.

I would never go anywhere near them again. Not even a rowing boat.
Totally un-professional.

Re: Med-Sale?

In passing:
The owner of the boat I was looking at had 2 or 3 corporate charter boats, which I believe were in the 40 to 60 foot bracket.

I understood, possibly wrongly, that Med Sale had supplied them.

Be sure that you check the previous owner, if indeed you are buying used not new.

If it is the same owner and one of his charter boats, beware.
Dot every "i" and cross every "t" and don't release any money without being absolutely certain of where it is going and what you have to do to get it back.
Assume nothing.

Re: Med-Sale?

Much appreciated. I am getting her Type 2 & Type 6 surveyed and I've also got Finnings coming up from Poole to give the engines a good going over plus the obligatory sea trial. The vessel in question is MCA coded and I have done "provenance" checks, including getting some very useful input from a well informed chap in Majorca where it would seem the vessel was never actually chartered. She's only 20 months old so with all the checking, surveying etc I hope there's no duff pup in sight. Any other advice is very welcome. Thanks Randle
