Put a bunch of humans together for a discussion and emotions will soon rise to the fore and I think some people write things in the heat of the moment that they wish they hadn't, including myself. Most of the time on these forums the discussions are first class but there seems to be certain subjects that set the fur flying. These seem to be in no particular order:
1. Light V heavy displacement. Guaranteed to generate a lot of heat despite the fact it's been discussed umpteen times. Try not to get too involved in this one as it's a bit like discussing religion - you can talk all you want but whatever side you're on you'll get few converts.
2. The price of red diesel. If you agree with the fact that there's no justification for cheap diesel and you'll be accused of treason by the motor fraternity.
3. Ensigns. Now here's one that really get's the juices going. Just a mere mention of flying a Euro ensign gets the comments coming thick and fast.
4. Bavaria Yachts. Brings out a sense of misguided moral superiority in some members, who obviously don't own one and never will. Why ? Search me. They're excellent value for money. Come on Bav owners. Stick up for yourselves !!!!!!!!
So if you own a light displacement Bavaria, fly a Euro ensign, have tank of red diesel constantly full and love the RYA, stick up for yourself but do join in the fun.

Agree about the same questions being asked but I was a culprit in my early days. It was also my early days on the web per se and I had to learn my way around that too. And then there is always the possibillity that a newly recruited member can offer a new opinion that improves on anything the old hands may have opined. And though people may sometimes be rude I hope that no matter what if the chips are down when we are out there we will all come to each others rescue.

Sailing is a parallel with life. Sometimes it gets bloody awful and you just want to give up ,but you have to keep going and when you reach through it doesn't seem so bad looking back.

IMHO he wasn't advertising his business,he had a link as his markup, which a lot of regulars do, reading t&c's would suggest couple of the regulars might be better to brush up on the rules as well.
