Easy to park in one the big hotel carparks nearbye and only a tenner.Collected tickets at door.(Thank you Fairline).Lots less crowds than I was expecting and easy to get on all boats.Chap we went with looked over asstd Phantoms n Sunseekers. All same to me,daft swoopy windows, acres of eye aching white and pastel toy town interiors with stupid white carpets.Managed to sprint past Sealine stand without reaching for sick bag.All style no function.Popped round corner for quick eyeball of that new Volvo drive system.Had a look at a couple of small flybridge jobs from Ben/Jen/Oct and at the ahem"ViKi" built in Turkey. The little turkish boat was best quality of the bunch, but that name.Need to change it to Thruster 69 or Throbber 1 at the least.
Best value grub def up stairs near west ? entrance in Tapas type place.
Hole in corner selling that horrid black irish muck was curiously empty most the day.
VIP types spotted included Mr Clarkson and daughters down by the S.......e stand and everybodies favorite uncle in the motoracing world Mr B Ecclestone looking curiously enough at some smallish speedboats. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Raising the Bar

I agree.

The new S29 with the stepped hull (which you could hardly see), designed by Ocke Mannerfelt, no function.

The softtop roof on the new SC29 coupe, no function.

That aft cabin on the F43, no function.

The full beam owners cabin in the T60, no function.

The only major British builder to produce a 25-footer, why do they bother ? No Function.

Suggest you write to Sealine and suggest they just pack it all in. After all, why should people be able to afford a new British built sportscruiser ? They should either wait until they can afford a new Fairline/Sunseeker/Princess, or buy secondhand.

Re: Raising the Bar

Dunno about the new 29 - never seen one. T60.... only seen plans but not the boat - is it that unfunctional?? As for the F43 - a brilliant boat especially for the money; and how can it's aft cabin be a non function? I see you own a 25 foot sealine yourself... Non Function?? or am I missing your point.

I have been trying to stay out of this but h*** . can't.

Sealine boats fill a niche in the market, there interiors are very well set out for space etc. There handling is the same as others.
They are boats that people can afford, ,they are good fun boats. they sell many more of them than many other manufactures, and if you think about it, fairline and princess started out making small boats, 20 ish footers and now there smallest is 34 or 40 plus, because they make money on them.
With out Sealine many people would be missing out on a lot of fun.
There good boats.

Sorry, should have added a "bitter sarcasm" indicator, but couldn't find one to suit.

Re: Straight Lines all over the place

Perhaps I could interest sir in one of these ?

Comes with the "Leonard Rossiter Autopilot" which enables you to sip campari and chat to your lady friend without paying any attention to where you are going.

Or how about one of these ?

Designed before CAD packages were able to draw curved surfaces, we guarantee that all external lines on this model are completely straight ! The "permanent list to starboard" is an optional extra for those wishing to recreate the experience of sailing.

Also, it's one of those designs where you are never quite sure which way it's meant to be going. Could they be standing in the "bowrider" section ?

Ooo touchy lot arnt you.

Where shall we start.Bayliners and Sealines do provide the sort of craft that get beginners and other folks onto the water and good luck to them.Far eastern car builders have long been aware that some folks unable to afford or unwilling to spend the sort of money needed to buy a premium product will buy a "good value" stuff instead and not worry about residuals etc even if product looks a tad overdesigned .Completely agree that those daft windows appear on all the prestige boats, but practically and common sense appears not to apply at this level.Still folks used to think that flares looked ace.
Not for no reason was that S........e stand located nearest to the Essex entrance. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

a rather good ferrinstance of KISS.

When Longbridge were were introducing any sort of bang up to date cutting edge design in a desperate attempt to to appear fab n modern ie the Metro/Allegro with advanced square steering wheels. From Volkswagon we got plain boring old simple engineering like the Mk 1 Golf, which simply worked and still looks good today.May have cost a bit more tho.......
We got the Stag they got the Porche.
Extending aft platform anyone. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
