Better weather now!

This is our 1st time cruising around this area. I knew it was special but my expectations have been exceeded. And haven't even got round Ardnamurchan! 😀😁

Glad we're leaving Arpeggio up here to continue next year.

Almost home. Thought I’d be galus and sailed backwards of the mooring to head south with a lovely sail down Loch Shuna, too fast as we were an hour or so too early for Dorus Mor so goosewinged through at 7kts with 4kts tide against us! Sitting at anchor in Gallanach Bay with a lovely sunset just now. IMG_1176.jpeg
Crinan, lovely as ever.

In our home berth now and chilling with a nice glass of Malbec.
This pic is of the Crinan sea lock, lead together with some old elastic bands and a stick plaster…

Spotted that as well - fortunately the new gates are already there and waiting beside Lock 14 ready to be fitted.

Oh come on, new gates won't be such fun.

The first time I went up Neptune's Staircase on the Caledonian all the gates were wood. The lower sluices were partly opened in most chambers to encourage the upper gates to fully close. I was motoring ahead against the flow until the gates fully closed. One of the lock keepers regaled us with tales of a gate failing.

Really sampling the delights of the west coast last weekend. Saturday was hit by a squall heading up the sound of Mull and decided to retreat to calmer waters with a very entertaining passage thru the Sound of Cuna. Sunday a very wet trip back along the Sound of Mull, and Monday with the Westerly still very much in full strength rounded Armageddon!!. Great fun and one of my most memorable sailing trips. Due to the weather not many pics but the small Islands looked breathtaking. will be back later in the month. In the meantime this popped out of the rain the week earlier when I spend a couple of nights in Loch Alian.
