Suggest a connector?

The XT series are really designed for voltages up to about 60V ... but voltage is not the deciding factor other than maybe 'dielecric' rating - but what you said - I don't think you'll be troubled there. They can handle the amps - not a problem......

The OP is using 240V, so insulation (or dielectric) is the important factor. I wouldn't use anything rated at 60V max.

This is the crazy part ... I agree that insulation is the important part and also the whether it sparks on connection / disconnection. The XT series are available with protective covers that go over top of heatshrink ... given some of the connectors you see over counter supposedly designed for 240V mains use ... I question if they are as safe as the XT !!

Point taken and I did qualify my suggestion with caution.
 
I've always like the Neutrik Powercon connectors. Rugged, twist lock, secure. Might be a bit bulky for what you're looking for though.
