Weather forecast doesn't weigh enough, you need good heavy ground tackle..even if you carry it about 99% of the time it's worth it for that one occasion.....more attention to weather forecasts may have been helpful
Last few days…..passing on towards eastern med and dieting outWhen did this storm happen?
Not too far east, I hope. Seriously in my 20+ years in the Eastern Aegean I haven't witnessed that kind of destructive wind. A few years ago there was an alert about a possible Medicane hitting our area but it passed by, well to the west. Don't get me wrong. We get serious storms mainly in Autumn from the south west [Lodos] but they're always well forecast and we have plenty of time to take shelter and batten down.Last few days…..passing on towards eastern med and dieting out
Go East, old man .There was one hell of an electrical storm last night....lasted hours...not a lot of rain
Was it a Rocna ?
We previously had an oversized Rocna, but had switched to an oversized Mantus M1 at this stage. It never budged. Every other boat in the anchorage dragged, but fortunately out to sea so hopefully there was no damage. Was it a Rocna ?
I've experienced very strong winds as well, but only once when it wasn't forecast, and then it was a sudden squall which lasted around 15 minutes and cleared. Here's a thread I posted a couple of years ago.Now you have jinxed yourself
This was just one example we experienced at anchor in the Eastern Aegean:
