I know.... but i am thinking of buying some Dubarry boots(mail order).
are they sized as per shoes or do they measure up large or small?

Standard continental sizes, but you might want to go one up from your normal size to allow for a thick pair of socks.

Buy from a real chandler, as opposed to online, and you can try them on before bending the plastic.

a Pr of Sealskinz is the sock to have with Dubarrys ;)
As Ken suggested go & try for size,
Dubarry will stretch up to 1/2 a size FOC if you send them back, they return FOC as well

I think I am correct in saying that Dubarry's also do wide fittings, unlike most other boot manufacturers, but most place don't tend to stock the wide fittings so you have to contact a main supplier and so end up paying top wack, which can be expensive for a pair of Dubarrys.
I have wide feet and find I need to buy a size up to get the width I need, at least that is the case with my shoes. If I buy a pair of Benson's or Churches shoes I can get a proper fit out of 91/2 G fitting other makes I need a 10.
And dont forget if you are intending to wear a pair of seaboot socks you will need a tad more room, so if you can find loca'ish' supplier I would try to get a proper fit.

I used to sell boots, and most makes come out larger than corresponding shoe sizes, most but not all, so please make sure you try before you buy.

"Extra Fit". I don't know if they are wider, but they are significantly wider around the calf and the distance from vamp to heel is larger. Since my disreputable past has left me with huge calves and high insteps, Dubarrys were the only seaboots I could find that fitted me. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Many seaboots nowadays seem designed to fit waif-like fashion models rather than real people. Dammit, you'd need to be anorexic to get into something like this:

Dubarry boots are a very close fit for the size. I'm an accurate 44 for all shoes and boots but my 44 Dubarry's only just fit me even with thin socks and are hell to get on and off.
